Social media after a breakup

2 min read

Feeds keep the person present: photos, tags, memories, their friends. Each glimpse restarts the hurt. You do not have to prove you are strong by watching.

Start with the simplest tools: mute, hide, archive, unfollow. Muting is invisible and reversible. If the urge to look is strong, log out of the app for a while and delete it for a week.

Change what the feed shows you: follow things that make you feel like yourself again, whether that is cooking, running, music, or comedy. Turn off memories and “on this day” features.

You are not being petty. You are managing your environment while you heal.
